Intestinal beta-carotene absorption and cleavage in men: response of beta-carotene and retinyl esters in the triglyceride-rich lipoprotein fraction after a single oral dose of beta-carotene

摘要: Postprandial response curves of β-carotene and retinyl esters in a triglyceride-rich lipoprotein (TRL) fraction were evaluated as potential measure uptake cleavage. β-Carotene, ester, triglyceride concentrations the TRI, (density < 1.006 kg/L) plasma measured 10 men for 8 or 16 h after an oral dose 15 mg β- carotene. The response, unlike ester can be TRL but not plasma. Intraindividual variations triglyceride-adjusted carotene palmitate fractions 23% 20% interindividual 42% 36%, respectively. A low was associated with high ratio between responses (r = -0.56, P 0.013). In conclusion, measurement vitamin A-free meal may appropriate method to study cleavage
