摘要: Science and technology policy is increasingly becoming subject to public scrutiny the mechanisms of participation debate. New emerging techniques in domain nano-enabled technologies for medical applications are no exception this trend. Public commitment initiatives valuable terms advancing communication, yet democratic deliberation reflection exercises challenging also from an ethical a regulatory perspective, as it not immediately clear how actors these fields may proceed them. The outcomes citizens panel, held Flemish participatory assessment project Nanotechnologies Tomorrow’s Society, illustrate that reflections express enthusiasm, scepticism anxiety thus ambivalence towards developments future health care. authors first demonstrate ambivalent responses by means contextual analysis based on limited set principles typologies differing value perspectives. They then analyze attempts agents law-makers limit possibilities inconsistent interpretations create climate certainty which technological innovation can thrive. article concludes exploring potential venues more effective inspirational knowledge transfer bodies law-makers. Knowledge transfer, argue, should build interdisciplinary rather than multidisciplinary production participation.
