摘要: This paper analyzes the decision making process of adult children to provide informal care their parents. First, we develop a structural model explain amount time that only (without siblings) spend on providing care, taking into account opportunity costs in terms and money. The is estimated using two datasets from 12 European countries reveals preferences for consumption, leisure care. Although assume differences behavior between with without siblings are due dissimilar constraints only, by do not have make assumptions about interactions model. In presence siblings, choices also play role caregiving decision. A central question whether cooperative or noncooperative decisions. second part this aims establish noncooperative, comparing predicted outcomes observed outcomes. We use parameter estimates first Quantal Response Equilibrium. results suggest nature has strong effect division siblings. For almost three quarters families better fit than model. When can be pushed outcome, parents would average receive 50% more per week children, but reduce full-time labor supply 5.7%-points increase part-time 6.7%.
