The attitudes of Guangzhou citizens on waste reduction and environmental issues

摘要: Source separation of waste is considered an effective means to enhance recycling and it especially so with Guangzhou. Guangzhou one the most populated cities in world facing management problems such as increasing cost transport disposal, local opposition landfill siting shortage disposal facilities. In 1997 a questionnaire survey on attitude opinion citizens source household acceptance New Environmental Paradigm (NEP) was conducted by authors. About 800 questionnaires were distributed response rate over 98%. It found that environmental awareness slightly higher than their Hong Kong counterparts early 1990 but lower Americans' late 1970's 1980's. Also, some 5% surveyed population showed unfamiliarity NEP issues. At same time, younger generation, those below age 17, be more pro-NEP older counterparts. Thus, education publicity introducing general concepts grown up are required. area recycling, support for recovery practice greater Kong.
