摘要: The objective of this study was to determine the effect introducing legume Arachis pintoi CIAT 17434 into a native pasture where grasses dominated botanical composition, on establishment, persistence, standing dry matter, soil variables, animal performance, herbage quality and ingestive behaviour animals, from 1998 2001 in humid tropics east coast Mexico. treatments were grass (NG) as control NG associated with A. (NG+Ap), which grazed by dual purpose F1 (Holstein x Zebu) cows. most successful type establishment vegetative planting alternated strips 1:2 ratio area. showed strong stoloniferous habit accumulation high seed reserves that allowed its propagation over almost half area end study. SDM always higher for NG+Ap but difference among decreased time. effective N 2 fixation C soil, both bulk density remained unchanged There no differences saleable milk yield (6 kg/cow/day) calf production per cow (0.5 kg/calf/day) between treatments. Herbage digestibility crude protein association, did not reflect performance because low organic matter intakes. Grazing ruminating times lower biting rates higher. farmer may use his advantage increase fertility, since it would allow introduction more productive exotic or cultivation crops without need costly fertilisation.
