摘要: Abstract Azotobacter vinelandii forms desiccation-resistant cysts which contain a high proportion of the exopolysaccharide alginate in their envelope. We have previously shown that A. biosynthetic genes algA and algL are transcribed from promoter located somewhere upstream algL. In this study we sequenced algX, algL, algV, algI algF between algG algA. carried out primer extension analysis algG, algX detected transcription start sites but not or implying form part identified algL-A operon. A was also detected; however, exclusively is sufficient for AlgA levels required production. An mutant (AJ34) constructed by insertion Ω-tetracycline cassette non-polar orientation. As expected, AJ34 produced unacetylated alginate. Viability 35 day old formed strain AJ34, those wild type, reduced, indicating acetylation plays role cyst resistance to desiccation.
