摘要: The aim of the present study was to establish whether gastro-intestinal (GI) complaints observed during and after ultra-endurance exercise are related gut ischaemia-associated leakage endotoxins [lipopolysaccharide (LPS)] into circulation associated cytokine production. Therefore we collected blood samples from 29 athletes before, immediately after, 1, 2 16 h a long-distance triathlon for measurement LPS, tumour necrosis factor-alpha interleukin-6 (IL-6). As response would trigger an acute-phase response, characteristic variables these responses were also measured, along with creatine kinase (CK) obtain indicator muscle damage. There high incidence (93% all participants) GI symptoms; 45% reported severe 7% participants abandoned race because distress. Mild endotoxaemia (5-15 pg/ml) evident in 68% race, as indicated by reduction IgG anti-LPS levels. In addition, production IL-6 (27-fold increase race), leading (20-fold C-reactive protein 12% decrease pre-albumin race). extent not correlated or but did show correlation elevation (r(s) 0.389; P=0.037). Creatine levels increased significantly post-race, further follow-up period. correlate those either protein. It is therefore concluded that LPS does enter may, together damage, be responsible hence athletes.
