摘要: Concerns about food safety are increasing in developing countries where urbanization and changing life styles associated with greater dependence on marketed foods. Ensuring the of animal products supplied from smallholder pastoral systems these presents a great challenge. The risk consumer exposure to milk containing antimicrobial residues was investigated by testing 986 samples unpasteurized collected dry wet seasons market agents along supply chains around Mwanza Dar es Salaam Tanzania during 1999 2000 estimating frequency consuming such milk. With Charm-AIM screening test kit, were detected 36% samples, suggesting an average 11 exposures per month for daily higher prevalence levels not significantly different site or season, as had been hypothesized. Recommendations address this problem (i) creation awareness among policy makers, who currently unaware problem, development potential interventions (ii) at collection centers, (iii) further investigation production practices used predominantly producers agents. Risks should be characterized estimated provide basis designing appropriate extension messages effective management strategies protecting health consumers without unnecessarily jeopardizing livelihood benefits derived dairying
