摘要: Fever is defined as a rectal temperature greater than 38.0 degrees C (>100.4 F). A recently documented fever at home should be considered the same in ED and managed similarly. All febrile infants younger 28 days receive "full sepsis workup" admitted for parenteral antibiotic therapy. Clinical laboratory criteria can used to identify low-risk population of aged 1 4 months who have not received 2 doses conjugate vaccines bacterial meningitis. Children with sickle cell disease are high risk require special evaluation. MRSA infections now common all patients pyoderma, severe pneumonia, catheter-related sepsis. HSV infection CNS whenever patient has altered mental status CSF findings diagnostic rarely represents life-threatening pathology; however, handful less serious causes pediatric exist potential morbidity mortality.
