摘要: ACADEMIC EMERGENCY MEDICINE 2011; 18:1380–1385 © 2011 by the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Abstract Objectives:  The objective was to assess relationship between emergency department (ED) crowding and timeliness of antibiotic administration neonates presenting with fever in a pediatric ED. Methods:  This retrospective cohort study febrile (aged 0–30 days) evaluated serious bacterial infections (SBIs) ED from January 2006 2008. General linear models were used evaluate association five measures administration, controlling patient characteristics. A secondary analysis conducted determine which part visit this population most affected crowding. Results:  total 190 patients met inclusion criteria. Mean time first 181.7 minutes (range = 18–397 minutes). At case presentation, number waiting area, of hours spent current patients, awaiting admission, hourly boarding all positively associated longer times antibiotic. arrival room placement exhibited strongest crowding. Conclusions:  is delays neonate despite rapid recognition as high-risk group. Each component crowding, terms input, throughput, output factors, delays. Further work required develop processes that foster more treatment protocol these regardless pressures.
