摘要: Aims:  To develop a simple, reproducible in vitro static diffusion method using cellulose disks and defined species to test antimicrobial efficacy of wound dressings. Methods Results:  Cellulose were inoculated by immersion cell suspensions target Staphylococcus epidermidis, Candida albicans Fusobacterium nucleatum. Test control dressings cut into equal sized squares (25 × 25 mm) applied the surface 10-mm thick tryptone yeast extract agar on beds. Following 2-h equilibration period, inserted (one per dressing) at interface between dressing small weight over each square. At various sampling times, removed surviving cells enumerated viable counts. Disk disk variation for microbial loading was assessed S. epidermidis both initial (n = 16) standard treatment conditions. The coefficient low (  0·9) indicating good reproducibility assays. Significant differences (P < 0·05) kill rates observed different species, types bed conditions (±blood nutrients). Conclusions:  is useful tracking death kinetics enabling comparison dressing. Significance Impact Study:  reported has significant advantages established procedures; it can be equally across wide range (including anaerobes yeasts), conditions, dressings, including those relying upon oxygen diffusion.
