摘要: Abstract Estrogen (E) and progesterone (P) orchestrate many cellular responses involved in female reproductive physiology, including behaviors. E- P-binding neurons important for lordosis behavior have been located within the ventromedial hypothalamus (VMH), several hormone-responsive genes observed there as well. In attempts to identify additional P-responsive VMH that may contribute sexual behaviors, we used differential display mRNA screening technique. One of identified encodes 73-kDa heat shock cognate protein (Hsc73). Quantitative situ hybridization analysis brains from naturally cycling rats revealed a significant increase Hsc73 arcuate nucleus animals during proestrus compared with those at diestrus-1. To confirm these increases were steroid hormone dependent, vehicle-treated ovariectomized females treated estradiol benzoate P. Northern hybridizations showed gene is enhanced by E P pituitary subregions VMH. Incidentally, examining primary amino acid sequence rat, human, chicken receptors, noticed putative binding sites are conserved across species similar existing androgen glucocorticoid receptors. Together findings suggest possible mechanism through which could influence activities progesterone, androgen, enhancing expression cells where proteins colocalize.
