摘要: Abstract The absorption and fluorescence characteristics of biologically active coumarin derivatives 4-p-tolyloxymethyl-benzo[h]coumarin (4PTMBC) 1-(4-iodo phenoxymethyl)-benzo[f]coumarin (1IPMBC) are studied at room temperature in a series organic solvents 1,4-dioxane – acetonitrile solvent mixture. effect pure on the spectral properties analyzed using Lippert–Mataga polarity function, Reichardt’s microscopic parameter, Kamlet’s Catalan’s multiple linear regression approaches. Both general solute interactions hydrogen bonding operative these systems. However, contribution is less compared to solute–solvent interactions. solvatochromic correlations used estimate excited state dipole moment experimentally determined ground moment. bathochromic shift emission spectra increase indicate intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) character emitting singlet state. solvation studies mixture suggest that dyes preferentially solvated by 1,4-dioxane.
