摘要: Carbon nanotubes can act as electron sources1 with very rigid structures2, making them particularly interesting for use point sources in high-resolution electron-beam instruments. Promising results have been reported respect to some important requirements such applications: a stable emitted current3,4,5 and long lifetime6,7. Two parameters of an source affect the resolution these instruments: energy spread electrons parameter called reduced brightness, which depends on angular current density virtual size. Several authors measured low associated emission3,7,8,9. Here we measure find value that is more than factor ten larger provided by state-of-the-art microscopes. In addition, show individual multi-walled carbon nanotube emits most into single narrow beam. On basis results, expect will lead significant improvement performance
