摘要: This study investigates effects of surface water quality Upper Ganga river basin. The current uses a general categorization system, viz. excellent, acceptable, slightly polluted, polluted and heavily for the assessment water. Considering Indian scenario, Standards CPCB have defined concentration ranges these classes. Further, parameters, hardness CaCO3, biological oxygen demand (BOD), fluoride (F), dissolved oxygen% (DO%) pH, were studied in basins pre-, post- monsoon time periods. numerical equations to convert actual values into pollution indices used. On basis individual index data, an ‘Overall Index Pollution’ (OIP) is calculated. OIP calculated at Uttarkashi Rishikesh stations on basin using observed data. Water degradation has occurred basin; consequently, health status changed from acceptable polluted.
