摘要: The advent of easily-accessible tile-drainage and the intensification agricultural practices have brought widespread decoupling streams their riparian floodplains in over last 150 years. Channelised deeply incised landscape, these are more than often reduced to simple drainage ditches – when not simply running underground pipes. This paper describes a modular approach bring back key functions ecosystem services provided by lowland that still must perform purposes an landscape. Five principal restoration measures, also referred as “building-blocks”, discussed: re-creation buffer-strips, alteration tile drainage, in-channel interventions, creation wetlands/ponds, finally daylightening. complete stream may be most acceptable option farming communities. In cases, however, application even basic measure (i.e. buffer-strip) can significantly support return stream; such flow regulation, water purification biodiversity. Cumulative implementation other measures at strategic points basin will further ensure functional stream/river valley is reinstated.
