摘要: Summary Background  The microscopic assessment of squamous epithelium lesions in gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is subjective. Ki67 nuclear antigen expressed by proliferating cells provides an objective measure regeneration the epithelium. Aim  To evaluate expression GERD patients and controls, comparison with histological lesions, pH-metry endoscopic data. Methods  Eighty-seven symptoms 20 symptom-free controls underwent endoscopy 24-h pH monitoring. Oesophageal biopsies (4 cm, 2 cm Z-line) were stained Ki67/MIB-1 antibodies; Ki67-positive area was assessed image analysis system as percentage whole epithelial (Ki67-%). Results  Ki67-% significantly higher 32 erosive oesophagitis, 44 endoscopy-negative 11 functional heartburn than (P = 0.0001). Both showed a progressive increase from 4 cm to Z-line (P < 0.0001). significant correlation other conventional (P ranged between 0.0151 <0.0001). Conclusions  evaluation quantitative data on proliferative activity. This marker can be applied distinction healthy controls.
