Effects of chronic uridine treatment on regional neuropeptide and tyrosine hydroxylase-like immunoreactivities in the brain of 12 month-old male rats.

摘要: Uridine was administered in the drinking water (0.5 mg/ml) adult 6 month-old rats for months. The mean daily dose of uridine 12.5 mg/rat. effects this treatment on tyrosine hydroxylase, galanin, somatostatin, neuropeptide Y and cholecystokinin-like immunoreactivities were studied by means semiquantitative immunocytochemistry using peroxidase-antiperoxidase procedure combination with image analysis. A decrease cholecystokinin galanin-like nerve terminals observed various brain areas 12 animals compared 3 animals, while levels hydroxylase-like immunoreactivity unchanged. Uridine-treated showed a some diencephalic an increase most telencephalic comparison vehicle treated same age. It is suggested that pyrimidine nucleoside can affect synthesis and/or degradation mRNAs involved neuropeptides via direct nuclear actions indirect involving receptor activated phosphoinositide metabolism. offers new way to modulate central peptide synapses.
