摘要: An accurate method to count human enteric neurons is essential develop a comprehensive account of the classes nerve cells responsible for gut function and dysfunction. The majority in nervous system utilize acetyl choline, or nitric oxide, combination these, as neurotransmitters. Antisera raised against RNA-binding protein Hu, were used identify cell bodies whole mounts myenteric plexus colon, then utilized analyse immunoreactive combinations choline acetyltransferase oxide synthase. Hu provided reliable means apparently all bodies, revealing 10% more than labelling with neuron specific enolase, no glial revealed by S100. ChAT+/NOS- accounted 48% (+/-3%) ChAT-/NOS+ 43% (+/-2.5%). ChAT+/NOS+ comprised 4% (+/-0.5) total number neurons, novel class small ChAT-/NOS- making up 5% (+/-0.9%) cells, was described first time.
