摘要: Abstract In the farming community of sub-district Meskan and Mareko in central Ethiopia, where prevalence epilepsy is knoen to be 5.2/1000, a door-to-door survey was undertaken 1546 sampled households find out public attitudes epilepsy. Nearly 64% respondents were age group 14–50 years, 58.6% women. The majority *86%) illiterate, 94% had incomes subsistence level; 89% heard or witnessed seizures. Traditional views on association evil spirits superstition prevalent. By 45% interviewees, disease believed contagious through physical contacts during an attack. Although there sympathetic concern for person suffering from epilepsy, negative strong matrimonial associations, sharing accommodation with affected persons, particularly when obvious signs frequent attacks by study demonstrates that rural has very poor knowledge causes nature this resulted social deprivations at times, rejection sufferers.
