摘要: Objective: To review demographic data, preoperative laboratory results, postoperative pathologic results of patients with thyroid nodules in Department Otolaryngology, Songklanagarind Hospital. Study design: Retrospective descriptive study Materials and methods: The records Otolaryngology from 1999 to 2003 were reviewed evaluate results. Results: There 393 patients, 334 females 59 males. Age ranged 41 50 years. tests (thyroid function test, ultrasound, scan and/or fine needle aspiration biopsy) these compared the reports. From test 88.6% (226/255) euthyroid while hypothyroidism was found Hashimoto's thyroiditis (11/16) hyperthyroidism toxic nodular goiter (10/13). ultrasound prevalence solitary nodule same as that multiple but more likely be malignant than multinodular goiter, 33.3% (7/21) 9.5% (2/21) respectively. most cold 75% (12/16), warm hot nodules. FNAB benign 49.8% (129/259), followed by follicular lesion 31.6% (82/259), suspicious for malignancy 9.6% (25/259) 8.8% (23/259). analysis this revealed a sensitivity 75.6% (95% CI = 62.2-86.7), specificity 89.4% 84.1-94.7). Conclusion: is valid distinguish when other tests, so it should used an initial diagnostic those who have are confirm functional status ultrasonography recommended determine nodules' size during follow up guide localization.
