摘要: The paper revisits the notion of emancipation in Information System Development (ISD) that seems to have lost a battle against functionalist and managerialist approaches dominant information system (IS) research practice. Unlike views, emancipatory view ISD, informed by Critical Theory, considers ISD as site organizational innovation, self-reflection struggle for humanization work liberation from different forms domination. Critics project IS management literature question very possibility deplore its intellectualism, naivety negativism. purpose this is re-consider face these criticisms develop more refined nuanced micro-emancipation meaningful Informed Alvesson Willmott (1992, 1996) we explore, question, redefine ground micro-emancipatory processes based on longitudinal (15 year) study retail company. Our analysis critical reflection demonstrate real substance people involved, their meanings are neither fixed nor universal, but rather local, emergent, uncertain, sometimes contradictory. This contributes an empirically grounded practically relevant reconceptualization projects which reveals both benefits risks all involved.
