The future of psychiatry in low- and middle-income countries

摘要: The great shortage, and inequitable distribution, of psychiatrists in low- middle-income countries is one the key reasons for large treatment gap people with mental disorders. Psychiatrists need to play a public health leadership role increasing coverage care through task shifting effective interventions non-specialist workers. Psychiatrists' new roles should include designing managing such programmes, building clinical capacity, supervision quality assurance, providing referral pathways research.
