摘要: Our primary goal was to evaluate the behavioral and histological outcome of fluid percussion injury (FPI) cortical contusion (CCI) sensorimotor cortex (SMC). The SMC has been used neuroplasticity following CCI, but not extensively examined with FPI. In both CCI FPI models, a mechanical force 4mm in diameter applied over SMC, allowing for direct comparison measure relative rates histology recovery function these models. Gross deficits were found on sensory task (tactile adhesive removal task) multiple motor assessments (forelimb asymmetry task, forelimb placing rotorod). These occurred absence cognitive water maze. model creates focal damage localized wheras more diffuse causing widespread damage. Both ensued models SMC. neuroplastic changes ease at which this area can be measured behaviorally make an excellent location assess traumatic brain (TBI) treatments. No completely mimic full spectrum human TBI any potential treatments should validated across produce severe enduring deficits, are ideal evaluating treatment options.
