Regional productivity growth and investments in public infrastructure: the case of Germany

摘要: This paper examines whether the productivity growth in West-German states is influenced by provision of public infrastructure. Medium-term labour and output varies a lot between German states. differences are more pronounced during eighties. The traditional total factor shows smaller difference than productivity. regional rates can only partly be attributed to input growth. We estimate translog-cost-function for period 1970-1988 11 using three-equation fixed-effects panel data model. show that there important cost-saving effects associated with services. Likewise, demand labour, private investment structures equipment effected capital goods. Our estimates indicate formation encourages investment. effect especially strong respect structures. These results confirm or urban economic forstered government
