摘要: Abstract The epidemiological profile of sub-acute sclerosing leucoencephalitis in Belgium can be summarized as follows on the basis facts given above. 1. (1) It is an endemic disease, frequency which has been uniform course last 20 years and does not seem to influenced by seasons. 2. (2) affects male sex three times frequently female. most usual age onset between 6 12 years, with arithmetical mean 9 years. Youngest oldest cases our group have aged respectively 2 19 3. (3) geographical distribution seems correspond more or less characteristics country. disease actually frequent north-west (the marshy plains) than south-east (hilly) regions. 4. (4) rural population — i.e., centres 10,000 inhabitants affected a twice that large metropolitan centres. majority patients belong lower social classes particularly labouring classes. 5. (5) In certain number acute fever noted at but this coincidence was frequent. An infective amongst members family surrounding patient never noted. Occasionally death domestic animal (bird, dog, cat, rabbit) within household occurred time disease.
