摘要: Pacing failure in bipolar systems using polyurethane insulated leads may be frequent depending on the type of and can cause oversensing or to capture. The reason for this is often breakage inner insulation. aim study was evaluate signals created by such a short circuit. Thirty-seven patients were included study, 13 with failing 80A insulation, 14 old but normally functioning 10 new leads. Artifacts form spikes recorded, during surgical revision, from 11 (84·6%). In newly implanted no artifacts recorded. A significant decrease impedance 373·4 Ohms (99% confidence intervals 286·4–460·4, P<0·05) noted compared only 113·0 6·5–219·6, P<0·01) control difference between groups highly significant. five ventricular similar could making intermittent contact proximal lead connections. Thus, recorded intact artificial connection at end. Our results suggest that caused circuit lead. This finding have important clinical applications follow-up pacing defibrillation (Europace 2000; 2: 60–65)
