摘要: The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has researched and used remote sensing technology for acreage estimation since the early 1970s. Significant advancements in recent years have enabled NASS to transition use from primarily a research function performing an integral role agency’s crop program covering all major crops grown high producing states U.S. This accomplishment was achieved large part as result 1) enhanced data partnerships, 2) improved methodologies, 3) increased availability commercial software, 4) imagery ancillary data. With now operational, Agency is focusing its efforts yield well. Currently corn soybean estimates 10 are provided in-season Statistic Board (ASB) field offices. Although, solid, with more experience research, improvements expected. Looking future, begun conducting quantitatively measure progress condition using intends expand into mapping soil moisture improving disaster assessments monitoring.
