摘要: Among a large workplace population interviewed over year, current symptoms were assessed using the Hopkins Symptom Checklist (HSCL). Variation in by date of assessment was observed among 314 women but not 1556 men. women, greatest during late autumn and winter, significant inverse correlations found between available daylight at time standard symptom dimensions anxiety somatisation, as well an expanded mood scale more inclusive depressive within check-list. The amplitude seasonal effect such that prevalence female 'cases', defined HSCL criteria, twice high winter than rest year. data are consistent with role for light-dark exposure eliciting or synchronizing annual rhythms. sex-by-season interactions may contribute to sex differences overall depression.
