摘要: This paper examines changes in the distribution of health insurance across socioeconomic groups China over 1989-1997 period. The analysis is based on Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS), a unique micro-level longitudinal survey households eight Chinese provinces. Findings indicate that while aggregate coverage rates sample changed little this period, certain previously noted differences narrowed significantly. These findings bring into question presumption continued market-oriented reform would lead to increased those groups. results, fact, suggest exactly opposite, as market oriented have occurred important disparities been reduced. If these reductions are occurring there implications for policy. normally targeted equity reasons seem be making progress time but improvements needed reach levels enjoyed by more fortunate subgroups.
