摘要: The authors recently proposed a promising technique for producing monodisperse emulsions using straight-through microchannel (MC) device composed of an array microfabricated oblong holes. This research developed new MC devices with tens thousands channels several microns in size on silicon-on-insulator plate, and investigated the emulsification characteristics devices. Monodisperse oil-in-water (O/W) W/O average droplet diameters 4.4–9.8 μm coefficients variation less than 6% were stably produced surface-treated that included uniformly sized equivalent 1.7–5.4 μm. resultant depended greatly preceding channels. process this had very high apparent energy efficiencies 47–60%, defined as (actual input applied to generation/theoretical minimum necessary making droplets) × 100. Straight-through numerous microfluidic also have great potential increasing productivity fine emulsions.
