An x-ray diffraction and calorimetric investigation of the compound Cu 6 Sn 5

摘要: A phase transformation has been reported to occur at approximately 460 K in the compound Cu6Sn5, which NiAs (B81 structure. Single-crystal and polycrystalline specimens of this were heat treated produce high-temperature Ŋ-phase low-tem-perature Ŋ’-phase. X-ray diffraction determinations confirmed that was type: Simple Superlattice Ŋ Long-Period Ŋ’ An analysis proposed by Pauling for phases with structure indicated nature bonding Cu6Sn5 is predominantly metallic. The formation energy effect associated Ŋ-Ŋ’ measured liquid metal solution calorimetry tin as solvent. Ŋ’-phase —1.68 kcal per g-at., also suggests metallic bonding. -Ŋ ’ -0.06 g-at. consistent a simple superlattice long-period superlattice.
