Effects of fibrolytic enzymes in corn or barley diets on performance and carcass characteristics of feedlot cattle

摘要: A study was conducted to establish whether fibrolytic enzyme feed additives influence performance of feedlot cattle fed high grain diets, and compare the effects feeding diets barley or corn on carcass characteristics. Crossbred beef steers (408 kg) were offered concentrate (95.1%, dry matter basis), consisting mainly silage silage. Concentrates treated with either no one two mixtures. Calves slaughtered after a 103- 145-d period at an average weight 570 kg 10.8 mm backfat. Barley-fed calves grew faster (1.45 vs. 1.29 kg d−1), ate more (DM; 9.79 9.31 kg converted DM gain (6.85 7.35 kg kg−1gain) efficiently compared corn-fed (P < 0.001).
