摘要: In activated sludge processes, several plant configurations (like plug-flow configuration of the aeration tanks, systems with selectors, contact-stabilization processes or SBR processes) impose a concentration gradient carbon sources to biomass. As consequence, biomass grows under dynamic (unbalanced) conditions and storage response is usually established without any necessity other external limitations (e.g. lack nutrients oxygen acceptors). Under such conditions, often main mechanism removal readily available substrates, even though mechanisms can also contribute substrate removal, depending on microbial composition previous “history” biomass. In this paper type extent discussed by review experimental studies pure cultures, mixed cultures sludges reference its relevance population dynamics in sludge. Possible conceptual approaches modelling are presented, including both structured unstructured modelling.
