摘要: The role of thyroid-specific transcription factors in thyroid malignancy is still poorly understood, so we investigate gene expression both benign and malignant nodules, aiming to study a possible clinical utility these molecules. We quantified TTF-1, FOXE1 PAX8 mRNA levels, relating their diagnostic prognostic features tumors. RNA was extracted from 4 normal tissues, 101 [99 papillary carcinomas (PTC) 2 anaplastic carcinomas] 99 lesion tissues [49 goiter 50 follicular adenomas (FA)]. Levels (P < 0.0001) genes, but not TTF-1 (P = 0.7056), were higher than lesions. able identify nodules with 75.8 % sensitivity, 76.1 % specificity, positive predictive value, negative value 75.9 % accuracy. 60.6 % 81.1 % 76.9 % 66.4 % 70.6 % Both patterns also differentiate FA the variant PTC-FVPTC. However, investigated neither associated any feature tumor aggressiveness nor recurrence or survival. suggest that may help diagnose identifying characterizing follicular-patterned lesions, are determinants progression.
