摘要: The “Kennewick Man” controversy is an extremely important case in the history of American anthropology. As anthropologists with backgrounds Indian studies and archaeology, we have a particular interest this case. In paper present our perspective on Kennewick Man as anthropologis ts expertise Pacific Northwest precontact history, Plateau ethnology, cultural resource law. general find that August 30, 2000, decision Magistrate John Jelderks United States District Court for district Oregon to be incorrect without anthropological foundation. Based analysis evidence reviewed by Department Interior conclude made reasonable determining preponderance supports repatriation defendants.
