摘要: The population of group B streptococci (GBS) associated with invasive infections in nonpregnant adults from 2001 to 2008 was analyzed isolates submitted 24 hospital laboratories Portugal (n = 225). were characterized by antimicrobial susceptibility, pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE), multilocus sequence typing (MLST), and surface protein gene profiling. GBS cases found more frequently among men all age groups. In addition, serotype Ia the most frequent our collection, whereas V is dominant elsewhere. Serotype represented mainly a single PFGE cluster defined type 23 (ST23) eps ST24 bca, similarly neonatal Portugal, indicating that same genetic lineages can be responsible for both vaginal colonization disease contrast, hypervirulent III/ST17 lineage minority infections. distributed into two lineages, one ST1 alp3 macrolide resistant, another presenting ST2 fully susceptible antimicrobials tested. erm(TR) erythromycin-resistant isolates, while bovine-associated tet(O) tetracycline-resistant isolates. Our data emphasize importance local identification adults. dominance highlights this pathogenesis.
