摘要: Objective: Identify the determinants and consequences of interrupting discontinuing highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) among a population-based cohort HIV-infected men. Methods: Longitudinal analyses were applied to 2916 person-visit pairs (589 men) continuous HAART use 243 (154 during which was interrupted 151 (130 in discontinued by second visit. HIV RNA increase defined as =1 log(-10) copies/mL across visit pairs. Results: Younger age black race geographic location higher level depression shorter time on lower medication adherence not taking lamivudine- containing regimen predicted use. an abacavir- or lopinavir-containing HAART. Among men with =1000 approximately 5% those who for =7 days continued had increase. Men longer interruptions discontinuers significantly rates increases (35.7% 70.5% respectively). Discontinuation long resulted CD4 cell counts. Conclusions: Host characteristics play role short whereas may be clinically indicated. These stoppages further virologic immunologic however. (authors)
