摘要: ABSTRACT Background/Objective: HIV infection has a devastating impact on individual and public health, affects populations disproportionately. Treatment with antiretroviral therapy (ART) saves lives, but long-term adherence to ART is critical its success. We performed an observational cohort study determine the influence of race, sex other sociodemographic factors early discontinuations among HIV-infected persons. Methods: TennCare-enrolled adults black or white non-Hispanic race beginning either non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) protease (PI) between 1996-2003 (N=3,654) were assessed for discontinuation. A subgroup was validated using primary medical record. Results: Blacks more likely than whites discontinue NNRTIs (37 vs. 28%; P=0.003) PIs (36 25%; P Conclusions: Our results suggest that associated NNRTI PI discontinuation in this population, some class specific.
