摘要: We investigate the atomistic details of a single atom-extraction process realized by using scanning tunneling microscope tip-cluster interaction on Ag(111) surface at 6 K. Single atoms are extracted from silver cluster one atom time small biases less than 35 mV. Combined total energy calculations and molecular dynamics simulations show lowering barrier upon approaching tip to cluster. Thus, mere tuning proximity between governs extraction process. The atomic precision reproducibility this procedure demonstrated repeatedly extracting an atom-by-atom basis.
