摘要: Biological vulnerability for bipolar disorders (BD) in relatives of BD patients has not as yet been established. Serotonergic was studied, using acute tryptophan depletion (ATD), healthy first-degree and controls. The effects ATD on mood cortisol release 30 adult, lifetime symptom free, unaffected (Family History; FH) were compared with 15 matched controls a placebo-controlled, double-blind, crossover design. During placebo, salivary response also assessed during stress-inducing speech task (SIST). First-degree type II (FH II) showed an elevation mood, whereas control subjects I I) lowering after ATD. followed by decrease level both FH subgroups, but the results suggest serotonergic that affected subjects.
