摘要: Cadherins are cell-surface glycoproteins that mediate Ca2+-dependent, homophilic cell-cell adhesion. The classical cadherins, E- and N-cadherins, connect to beta-catenin, the lining protein. There appears be a relationship between their dysfunction tumor invasion metastasis. aim of our study was examine possibility alterations in N-cadherin catenin expression malignancy astrocytomas. Forty-five astrocytomas (18 glioblastomas, 16 anaplastic astrocytomas, 11 diffuse astrocytomas) were collected stained immunohistochemically for cadherins beta-catenin. None immunoreactive E-cadherin. beta-catenin present at borders 61% glioblastomas 31% incidence immunoreactivity increased significantly with histological grade (p = 0.001, by Kruskal-Wallis test). Moreover, Ki-67 labeling indices both N-cadherin-positive beta-catenin-positive cases higher than negative 0.05 0.03, respectively, Fisher's exact These results suggest or may related biological behavior
