Imidazolium ionic liquid-supported sulfonic acids: Efficient and recyclable catalysts for esterification of benzoic acid

摘要: Abstract Several imidazolium ionic liquid (IL)-supported sulfonic acids with different anions, [C 3 SO Hmim]HSO 4 , Hmim]BF Hmim]PF 6 and Hmim]CF were synthesized applied as catalysts for esterification reaction of benzoic acid. The experimental results indicate that IL-supported acid containing anion HSO − shows the best catalytic activity. Only when less (0.3 equiv.) applied, was product obtained high yield 97%. Furthermore, produced esters could be separated by decantation, catalyst reused after removal water.
