摘要: INTRODUCTION: We studied the potential in vitro antischistosomal activity of Cerastes cerastes venom on adult Schistosoma mansoni worms. METHODS: Live specimens horned viper snake, C. were collected from Aswan Governorate (Egypt). Venom was snakes by manual milking. Worms S. obtained infected hamsters perfusion and isolated blood using phosphate buffer. Mortality rates worms monitored after 3 days exposure to snake at LC50 various sublethal concentrations (10, 5, 2.5µg/ml). Scanning electron microscopy used investigate tegumental changes treated doses venom. RESULTS: The 21.5µg/ml. effect varied according their sex. mortality rate male female 48-h 83.3% 50%, respectively. induced mild severe damage form destruction oral sucker, shrinkage erosion tegument, loss some tubercle spines. CONCLUSIONS: present study demonstrated that exerts a time dose-dependent manner. These results may warrant further investigations develop novel schistosomicidal agents
