摘要: Background In this study, we assessed the in vitro antischistosomal activity of active ingredients Allium sativum (allicin) and Curcuma longa (curcumin) on Schistosoma mansoni. Methods This study was conducted Faculty Science, Port said University, Egypt (2018). Adult worms were exposed to a range concentrations AL or CU, worm survival 24 h post-exposure calculate lethal concentration compounds. Scanning electron microscopy used assess ultrastructural changes surface AL- CU- treated worms. The genotoxicities CU S. mansoni determined by DNA fragmentation analysis. Results We required kill 50% (LC50 ). LC50 8.66 μL/mL, whereas 100% mortality achieved at 50 μL/mL. 87.25 with highest 91.3% seen after exposure 100 μg/mL CU. Ultrastructural studies revealed that either led mild severe damage mansion, respectively. degree sex-dependent. Interestingly, while resulted worms, observed no genotoxic effects AL. Conclusion Both exhibit activity; provided evidence suggesting these compounds act through distinct mechanisms. These promising results encourage further investigation into as potential agents, alone complementary treatments praziquantel.
