摘要: Abstract In this work we have performed a comprehensive study on synthesis, processing, detailed material characterization and preliminary assessment of toxicity relatively new flame retardant (FR) additives as key for developing environmentally friendly fire safe polyesters. Two 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide (DOPO) based FR were synthesized using principles green chemistry incorporated via thermal processing in high temperature polyesters such polyethylene terephthalate (PET) polybutylene (PBT). The synthesis strategies included (i) the use N-chlorosuccinimide sustainable chlorinating agent DOPO (ii) solvent catalyst free microwave-assisted synthesis. Atomistic molecular dynamics (MD) simulations employed order to calculate solubility parameters these so estimate their compatibility Detailed rheological measurements polyester/FR blends carried out results indicated clear difference all three tested. Based analyses, 6H-dibenz[c,e][1,2]oxaphosphorin,6-[(1-oxido-2,6,7-trioxa-1-phosphabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-4-yl)methoxy]-, 6-oxide (DOPO-PEPA) exhibited highest with both showed thermal-oxidative stability guaranteeing stable steady at temperatures. All formulations higher retardancy compared virgin small scale tests. evaluated potential well-established in vitro platform. Our indicate no acute cytotoxic FRs analyzed two different cell types (the human lung epithelial line A549 macrophages derived from monocytic THP-1) under chosen experimental conditions.
