摘要: Recently, we described the severe combined immunodeficency (scid) mouse as a laboratory model forB. burgdorferi infection. Scid mice inoculated with virulent low-passage tick isolateBorrelia ZS7 developed pancarditis involving endocardium, myocardium and epicardium in absence of functionalB- orT-cells. Soon after inoculation perivascular infiltration was observed, later diffuse interstitium subendocardial subepicardial areas seen. The infiltrate mainly mononuclear predominantly composed Mac-1+ cells. Concomitantly, fibroblast proliferation augmented collagen deposition occurred interstitium. This associated presence ofB. organisms. histopathological ultrastructural findings observed scid resemble those human Lyme carditis. data emphasize suitability which to study role immune system pathogenesis
