“I have to be patient” – A longitudinal case study of an older man’s rehabilitation experience after hip replacement surgery

摘要: Background: Aging can bring about an increased risk of disability. Following illness or injures, rehabilitation is essential if the individual affected to attain and maintain independence. Performing with a person-centered approach vital for positive outcomes. Health providers are increasingly interested in developing services outpatient settings older people their own homes. Aim: The aim this study was describe man’s experience after hip replacement surgery. Design: A longitudinal qualitative descriptive single case study. Methods: Interviews were conducted on four occasions participant his home. interviews one month, seven months, year, five years patient discharged from hospital. data analyzed using content analysis. Results: Three categories emerged: (i) having feelings despair, (ii) being charge, (iii) rehabilitative support. results demonstrate participant’s decreased ability walk complicated surgery, physical psychological struggle well-being everyday life. strong motivation return as normal life possible facilitated rehabilitation.
