摘要: During the Viking extended mission following were performed: (1) The backhoe magnets on Lander (VL) 2 successfully cleaned, followed by a test involving successive insertions of cleaned into surface. Rapid saturation confirmed evidence from primary results that magnetic mineral in Martian surface is widely distributed, most probably form composite particles and nonmagnetic minerals. (2) An image VL taken via ×4 magnifying mirror demonstrates fine-grained nature attracted material. (3) reference chart magnet 1, inference also 2, continued to attract atmosphere. new generally are agreement with previous estimates 1–7% mineral, maghemite, presence maghemite its occurrence as pigment in, or thin coating on, all discrete, finely divided distributed crystallites, consistent data inorganic analysis experiments laboratory simulations biology Mars.
