摘要: THE portion of a hominoid mandible (KNM*–FT 45) found in 1962 at Fort Ternan Kenya has been referred provisionally by Leakey1 to Dryopithecus (sensu strictu). Simons2 agreed essentially with this. Other primates include the maxilla fragments Ramapithecus wickeri (Leakey) (ref. 3), several individuals Pliopithecus, and isolated teeth attributed Proconsul Oreopithecus. By size alone mandibular specimen (KNM–FT can be distinguished from all these except R. wickeri. A detailed examination occlusal relationships between upper 46)† two premolars KNM–FT 45 suggests that specimens belong same individual; even if this is not so they definitely species. Simons4 Pilbeam5 have argued Leakey's taxon Kenyapithecus junior synonym punjabicus (Pilgrim) 1910 6), but evidence indicates least species difference, position I take here.
